Midland Gem & Mineral Society Awards Scholarships

2007 Awards

Midland Gem & Mineral Society recently awarded two local students, Abigail Overton and Richard Vogel, with scholarships of $1000.00 each.

Abigail Abigail Overton, daughter of David and Carol Overton, is a senior at Midland High School.

Abigail is active in Texas Scholars, National Honor Society, Athletics, Science Club, Math and Science UIL Academics, Academic Letterman, and has been named to Who's Who Among American High School Students. Abigail plans to attend the Colorado School of Mines and major in Civil Engineering.

 

 

Richard

 

 

Richard Vogel, son of Theresia Vogel and grandson of David & Anna Richardson, is a senior at Permian High School.
Richard is active in UIL Academics. He is District President of the U.S. National Leadership Program and also received the U.S. National Leadership Merit Award. Richard plans to attend Texas A&M University at Galveston and major in Marine Technology.

 

We, the members of Midland Gem & Mineral Society congratulate these two young people on their many accomplishments. Both of you are exemplary models for people young and old.

Midland Gem & Mineral Society annually award two $1000.00 Scholarships to two outstanding youths of our communities. We have already begun our search for the 2008 Scholarship Awards. If you know of some deserving young people, please,
